Beauty and the Beast and its cast have officially been announced last week! Production has long been in process. The costume department has been working diligently to develop original costumes on a skeleton crew, and our director Ryan Shealy has been lifting this show piece by piece far before we’ve even begun. I’m excited for the world I’m about to enter with pieces set by local and non-local artists.
This show is fantastical, magical, and generously archetypical. With original ties to the Grimm Brothers collecting stories from all over the world, Disney retold the story through their animation and then adapted it into a musical shown worldwide in thousands of theaters. Thousands of Lumierres, thousands of Belles, thousands of Beasts and now I am playing one of many Beasts to come.
But Beast, is our Beast, a collaboration between the Beast and I. Beauty and the Beast is our show, a collaboration of incredible artists in Mansfield Ohio with optimistic, idealistic, and reverent vision and leadership. No Beauty and the Beast is the same, but more importantly, no Beauty and the Beast will be like ours.
My mission? Tell the truth, and tell the greater truth. Let Beast be seen.
I hope to see you all there when we step out onto stage! You can get tickets by clicking the link below.
